House architectural plan has an essential role in this doctrine.  In fact, VASTU is called “Science of Architecture” or “Science of Construction”.
There are a lot of constraints in VASTU such as the access to a room must have a specific position, appliances should be directed to the south, you cannot keep any kind of plant in the house and the list goes on. For VASTU, principles are so many and complex that you could write a book about them. Therefore, I will describe only a few regarding the house decorating, according with the laws and principles of this wonderful Indian art.

1| VASTU – COLOURS

Colours are very important in VASTU and choosing the right ones requires knowledge about the Universe and Zodiac Signs. For example, if you want to paint the south wall of your home, it is advisable to choose silver and white colours that are the colors of Venus. You should paint the walls of your home according to your zodiac sign colour. Thus, you must choose green if you are Gemini or pink and blue if you are Aquarius.

2| VASTU – PLANTS

After VASTU principles, you should not keep plants with spikes in your home. Avoid also, plants with red flowers and bonsai. Opt for Crassula, a plant considered to bring good luck.

3| VASTU – PICTURES

Hang on the walls, only paintings depicting scenes from nature, scenes full of movement and colour, such as a sunrise or a waterfall. Avoid paintings depicting violent scenes of war or fight, because you spoil the harmony and will attract negative energies.

4| VASTU – DRAPES & CURTAINS

After VASTU principles, your drapes or curtains should be in dark colours for the living room and in light colours for the bedroom. Avoid black or red curtains for your bedroom. They will attract negative energies.

5| VASTU – MIRRORS

Mirrors should be placed on the north or the east wall of a room, but it is not recommended that the mirror to be on the wall opposite the bed.

6| VASTU – LIGHTING

It is preferable to have a brighter home because light brings a good feeling. Obscure lights are not favorable for the inhabitants of a house, say experts in the art of VASTU. They can lead to depression.

7| VASTU – FURNITURE POSITION

Your bedroom bed should be placed South-West. Your desk should be placed North and the sofa should be placed South or East.

8| WHAT NOT TOKEEPIN YOUR HOUSEAFTERVASTUPRINCIPLES

Decorative elements inspired by Indian culture have always been an attraction for tourists and for people looking for unusual decorations.
Well, if you ever think to buy a painting with scenes from the Mahabharata (one of the two most important epics of ancient India), change your mind, because these images symbolize hatred between family members and as long as such a painting is inside your home rivalry between relatives will not stop.

Avoid also statues of Shiva dancing and picture depicting a sinking boat. As much as you would like to keep artificial fountains in your house after VASTU principles should give to them, because they suggest ephemeral nature of things: money comes and goes, happiness comes and goes.
Do not hang on your walls pictures depicting animals such as pigs, snakes, eagles, owls, leopards, hawks and crows.
